About Luisa
Luisa is a writer, researcher, strategy adviser, and academic tutor focused on the intersection between politics, economics and finance. Her work has covered Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Asia, drawing upon experience in journalism, policy analysis and a Master’s degree in international economics.
Journalism
As a journalist, she has written for Reuters, The Economist, the Financial Times, and several financial trade publications. In 2012, she won the Marjorie Deane Prize to write for the finance and economics section of The Economist.
Commentary
She is a political economy commentator. She hosts the ECON+ podcast, has appeared on an Africa special of emerging markets podcast 'Upside Down World', and analysed the UK's economic performance, inequality and the future for Greece and the Eurozone on podcast 'Talking Economics'. She has also appeared on Share Radio to discuss the 2015 UK General Election, as well as challenges facing African economies.
Teaching
Her academic teaching focuses on international economic relations within a historical framework. She also teaches on European history, and British economic and social history.
Consultancy
Previously, she worked for Shriti Vadera's independent consultancy business, which advised funds, governments and companies on strategy. She has also worked at strategic advice firm Global Counsel.
Education
Her Master's degree in International Economic Policy from Sciences Po, Paris, included specialisations in emerging economies and the environment. She wrote her thesis on Chinese investment in Zambia.
Earlier, she held positions at PoliticsHome, the British Chambers of Commerce, and the House of Commons.
